Northern Counties Classic Motorcycle Show, 28th & 29th October 2011 |
|
The Northern Counties Classic Motorcycle Show returned to Ballymena Leisure Centre in Northern Ireland on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th October.
VJMC Bangor Section was asked if they would like to put on a stand and I was delighted when members voluntered to bring along 8 machines, even if one of them wasn't actually Japanese. Drew brought a 1941 BSA which had seen service in the Second World War. Surprisingly Geoff wasn't suggesting that Drew paint this bike in Honda 400/4 Red.
I was especially heartened to see William's immaculate 1970 Honda CB 750 KO as it was his first ever restoration project and the first time the bike had been shown. Every aspect of the machine had been impeccably finished, a truly remarkable effort.
 Set 1/3
Moving next to the Northern Counties stand, we were all treated to another feast of Japanese delights. The “Best in Show” trophy was awarded to the Suzuki 500.
 Set 1/4
The North West Vintage Motorcycle Club (organisers of the annual classic run from the pits at the North West 200), the Vintage Motorcycle Club and other fascinating displays all contributed to a fantastic day out. Check out the diesel Royal Enfield which is currently being used for daily commuting.
 Set 1/13
No show would be complete without a display of TZ race bikes, some of which had recently been ridden to the maximum in this year’s “Forgotten Era Championship” with rounds hosted at Kirkistown, Mondello Park and Nutts Corner.
 Set 1/2
Other attractions included “Bikes for Sale” and a comprehensive array of autojumble stands. I met a few characters and I would ask that you support the Cancer Research UK ladies if you see them at any future event. They will be selling raffle tickets and first prize will be a brand new car. The draw will take place in 2012.
 Set 1/2
We were all pleased to see Drew when he eventually arrived to collect his bike, an hour and a half after the show had closed. I wonder if he would be that casual with a Honda XBR?
